Essential Wellness is about helping people feel good

WALKERTON – Liza Weltz says she’s always been passionate about natural healing.

She recently opened Essential Wellness in downtown Walkerton, offering her clients aromatouch massage (a combination of aromatherapy and massage), hot stone massage, reflexology and more.

Essential Wellness is located at 336 Durham St. E. The location is perfect, she said, with space for a store where she has items made by local crafters, including charming baby-sized moccasins and elegant wall hangings, as well as her own products. There’s also a spacious room out of public view where she does treatments.

Weltz chose to establish her business in Walkerton because she likes the compact downtown. She’s found the atmosphere “supportive and very welcoming.”

At present, Essential Wellness is open Thursdays and Fridays, noon to 6 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. That could change in the future, when she hopes to hire an employee to operate the store.

Weltz said she got into reflexology, and took advantage of the lockdown to learn hot stone massage. She’s been doing aromatouch massage about six years.

“I like making people feel good,” she said, adding it’s especially important during the pandemic, when stress levels are higher than usual.

So far, she’s been quite busy. Not only are people determined to shop locally during COVID-19, but they’re also interested in self-care, putting their health in their own hands. Weltz can definitely help with that.
