Essex County OPP seize $365k in drugs, arrest 1 person
Police have seized more than $365,000 in drugs after executing search warrants at two Leamington addresses Tuesday.
According to Essex county OPP, a Leamington man is facing eight charges after officers and canine teams performed search warrants at locations on Elliott Street and Talbot Street in Leamington. They also performed search warrants on two cars.
Officers seized "significant" quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine and Xanax. The street value of the drugs is estimated at more than $365,000, police said in a statement. Also seized were drug paraphernalia, cash, mobile phones and body armour.
"The OPP wish to thank the Peel Regional Police Specialized Enforcement Bureau Guns and Gangs Unit for their cooperation and assistance with this investigation," police said.
A 41-year-old Leamington man is charged with two counts each of possessing fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession Xanax for trafficking and one count of possession of the proceeds of crime.
Police said the accused appeared in court Tuesday and was held in custody pending another appearance next week.
