The Essex Ontario Provincial Police are investigating after a dead body was discovered washed up on a private beach in Colchester.

OPP responded to the call Wednesday around 3 p.m.

An unidentified female body was taken to London Health Sciences Centre where a post mortem will take place.

The OPP will work with the coroner to determine the identity and cause of death.
