Essex-Windsor EMS mourns sudden loss of District Chief Shawn Davis

Essex-Windsor EMS are mourning the "sudden and tragic" death of District Chief Shawn Davis.

"Out of respect for our colleagues and the gravity of yesterday's events, the Essex-Windsor EMS will not be addressing any further questions," wrote Chief Bruce Krauter in a statement.

Davis joined the paramedic service in 2001 and was described by Krauter as "passionate and experienced."

He served with the ambulance service in Dufferine Caledon, Bolton and District, Peel York and Shelburne District Hospital Ambulance Service.

"His devotion and pride to the field of paramedicine was outstanding and will be greatly missed," wrote Krauter. "Shawn, as well as his family, friends and colleagues are in our thoughts and prayers during this very sad and difficult time."

A devoted and passionate paramedic

Former Essex-Windsor EMS Chief and current president of the Paramedic Chiefs of Canada, Randy Mellow, said he was "devastated" to learn of Davis' death.

"He was a fantastic asset to the paramedic community and I'm shocked and saddened by the loss," he said. "He was a person who could be counted on to be very professional and at the same time very supportive of his coworkers and the clients of Essex-Windsor EMS."
