Sherbrooke water tower leak prompts partial evacuation of seniors' home
One of the two water tanks in the borough of Rock Forest in Sherbrooke, Que., cracked, causing a large amount of water to pour down onto the ground below.
Residents of a nearby seniors' home were relocated into another wing of the building.
Five cracks were initially reported in the tower, but municipal workers moved quickly to patch them up.
A security perimeter was established around the area.
The tower is 41 metres high and was erected in the late 1970s.
The tank has a capacity of nearly four million gallons of water and is designed to withstand winds of 160 kilometres per hour.
