One man is dead after his vehicle swerved and crashed Saturday evening in Saint-André-Avellin.

Police officers from Papineau were called to Route 321 near Rang Sainte-Julie at about 8 p.m.

The man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the Sûreté du Québec.

A passenger, a 19-year-old woman, was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say they do not know why the man lost control of his vehicle and are investigating.
