Everyone Wants to Know Why Shania Twain Wasn't at the CMAs
Shania Twain was absent from the 2019 CMA Awards.
Many fans missed the country superstar on a night that celebrated women in the genre.
Since the 2019 CMA Awards were dedicated to celebrating women in country music, it was only fitting that all of the greats were present. Female country all-stars took the stage in a spectacular opening medley, where hosts Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire, and Dolly Parton were joined by Tanya Tucker, Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles, and many others.
But everyone couldn’t help wondering, where was Shania Twain?
Shania has undoubtedly cemented her place in country music history as the “Queen of Country Pop.” Not only is she the top-selling female country artist of all time with more than 90 million albums sold worldwide, but she also has won five Grammys and was the first woman to receive CMT’s Artist of a Lifetime Award.
It’s not hard to see why fans felt that there was something missing from the CMA Awards’ performance aimed at showcasing female country power.
So the CMA's do the opening about females....
And they don't acknowledge Shania Twain?
The biggest selling female country artist of all-time?

After all, what better rallying cry has been coined than Shania’s famous “Let’s go girls”?
Kept waiting for @ShaniaTwain to just appear during the opening of the #CMAawards and all you’d hear is “let’s go girls” and everyone would lose their minds

It’s even more surprising that Shania was absent since she is performing at the American Music Awards on November 24. She recently announced that she will be doing a medley of her greatest hits in what will surely be an unforgettable performance.
But it’s possible that Shania skipped the CMAs to prepare for this mega medley since it’s happening just over a week later. Or, perhaps she is too busy in rehearsals for her upcoming residency in Las Vegas which begins on December 6 at Planet Hollywood’s Zappos Theater.
Now that we think of it, it sounds like Shania has got plenty on her plate for the end of 2019!
Fans also felt something was missing from the opening number with heavy hitters like Faith Hill, Trisha Yearwood, and Kacey Musgraves absent from the stage.
ugh missing Faith Hill & Shania Twain in that opening #CMAawards

Still, seeing so many women, both newcomers and legends, sing together in unity will remain a truly memorable moment.
