Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes seems to announce a new project every week. In addition to the second Downton Abbey film which was recently confirmed, he's working on The Gilded Age, a show about New York City in the 1880s, for HBO, and Belgravia, a historical drama (as is his specialty), based on Fellowes's novel of the same title, which will air this spring on EPIX. Fellowes's miniseries about the history of organized football—that's soccer to our American readers—is also set to launch on Netflix this spring.

The English Game will be a six-part drama on the streaming service "about the invention of modern [soccer] and how those involved in its creation reached across the class divide to establish the game as the world’s most popular sport,” Netflix Vice President of International Originals Eric Barmack told Variety back in April 2018.

"It’s part Etonians, part factory workers."

In late February, Netflix's UK social media channels announced that the show would be premiere this spring.

"The English Game – written by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes – charts the origins of football and how those involved reached across the class divide to establish the game as the world's most popular sport. Coming 20 March," reads the post, which was accompanied by four photos.

Deadline later confirmed that the series will get a global release on March 20, and shared the first trailer, which you can watch up top.
