Facebook Launches ‘Security Checkup’ Tool To Keep User Accounts Secure

Facebook has launched a new tool that makes it easier for users to find and use security setting to keep their account safe.

“We want everyone to have a safe experience on Facebook. That’s why we have dedicated teams and intelligent security systems working around the clock to help keep your account secure,” said Facebook product manager Melissa Luu-Van.

The Security Checkup update will be rolling out over the next few weeks and users will see an reminder at the top of their news feed when they log in.

Clicking on ‘Get Started’ will take users through a number of steps designed to keep their profile secure.

Users will be provided with a list of all the devices that are currently logged into their Facebook account giving them the option of logging out from devices they haven’t used for a while or have forgotten about.

Users can also choose to be sent login alerts to let them know if someone else tries to log in to their account.

There are also some fairly basic tips on choosing a strong password and keeping it safe.

Facebook has been testing the feature for a while, but it’s now available to everyone.

The new feature is available globally on desktop and will be coming to mobile soon.
