An image of a Nigerian man, arrested by the cops, is going viral on social media. The accompanying text claims, "This is the guy who added his infected blood to Cadbury products. For the next few week do no eat any products from Cadbury, as a worker from the company has added his blood contaminated with HIV (AIDS). It was shown yesterday on BBC News. Please forward this message to people who you care."
However, if one browses the archives of BBC, or searches for such a news on Google, there is no record of it. Neither the BBC nor any other international media outlet has carried such a story.
But the image throws up an entirely different piece of news. Several Nigerian news websites identify the man in the image as Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche, the alleged mastermind of the Nyanya bus station bombing of 2014. More than 70 people were killed in the attack.
Hence, it is abundantly clear that Cadbury products are not contaminated with HIV and the claim that an employee of Cadbury has added his infected blood to Cadbury products is absolutely false.
