Fans share emotional experience as Céline Dion winds down tour in Trois-Rivières

After 15 shows in Montreal and Quebec City, Céline Dion performed the first of two shows in Trois-Rivières last night, the last in her home province before she returns to Las Vegas.

Nine thousand fans packed the Cogeco Ampitheatre, both inside and outside, as the global superstar wraps up 17 shows in her home province.

Dion performed for more than two hours, covering a wide range of songs from her repertoire.

It was an emotional experience for some fans who feel a powerful connection to Dion's music.

Sylvie Pronovost went to the show with her daughter Lysa Bergeron. They sat in the outdoor section for the concert, beside the St. Lawrence River.

Pronovost said that both she and her daughter have wanted to go to Las Vegas to see Dion, but they have had health problems.

"We got the chance to celebrate life," she said. "The song, I'm Alive, was very, very, very emotional for both of us."

Pronovost said she is proud to see a woman work hard and achieve what she has.

"It's a kind of privilege for us to know what she is living every day through her songs."

An intimate experience

Cindy Rheault and her daughter drove from Montreal to see the show.

"We had seen her together about six years ago and it was one of the best days that we've ever had together, overall," Rheault said. "It was just only natural for me to bring her with me this time again."

Rheault said the concert was an intimate experience.

"There was no big fireworks to steal away the show," Rheault said. "Everything was about her and the audience. She was really generous, She was so happy to be back home."

The second concert in Trois-Rivières, the final show of the tour, is tonight. The proceeds of both concerts will go to the FondationCélineDion.
