‘Fantastic Four’ writer calls Trump-Biden debate worse than his widely hated movie

With just a 9% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the 2015 movie “Fantastic Four” bombed in theaters and was panned by critics.

But what’s worse than the Michael B. Jordan-starred movie? Tuesday’s presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

At least that’s what the writer for the critically-despised movie says.

“That was the worst thing I’ve ever seen, and I wrote FANTASTIC FOUR,” said Jeremy Slater, seemingly mocking the debate and the movie he wrote.

With interruptions, name calling, Biden and Trump talking on top of one another and the candidates going off topic during their answers, Tuesday’s debate was dubbed a “train wreck” by Vice.

Added CNN’s Jake Tapper: “That was a hot mess inside a dumpster fire inside a train wreck.”

The debate’s contentious moments included Trump’s refusal to condemn a white supremacist group, instead telling the far-right Proud Boys to “stand back and stand by.” Polls from CNN and CBS directly after the debate found Americans viewed Biden as the winner, although few were satisfied with the tone of the evening.

Similar to reactions to the debate, a reviewer for ComicBookMovie.com referred to “Fantastic Four” as “such a train wreck.”

Wesley Morris, then a writer for Grantland, called the movie-watching experience “shameful — for us, for the filmmakers, for whoever at the studio had the job of creating the ads, in which the cast appear to be starring in hostage posters.”

“Fantastic Four” generated just $56 million in the U.S. — less than half of its $120 million budget. A sequel for the movie was never made.

As for Trump and Biden, there are plans for a sequel. They are scheduled to debate again Oct. 15.
