Fantasy Baseball Pickups - Mile-High Adds!
Yahoo Fantasy analyst Andy Behrens offers a trio of waiver wire pickups for fantasy managers, including a pair of Colorado hitters who could be in for a big boost in fantasy production over the next few weeks.
ANDY BEHRENS: Hey. Got a few fantasy pickups for you in your Yahoo Baseball Leagues. Let's start with a little nugget that I have to share with you all. The Colorado Rockies, they've got a stretch coming up in which they have 13 of their next 16 games at home in Coors Field.
Maybe you've heard of it. It's a pretty friendly place to hit. So you are going to want to load up your lineups with Rockies. Sometimes this fantasy stuff, it's just not that hard.
First name I'll give you, Ezequiel Tovar. A young shortstop got off to a slow start this season. I get it, but he just concluded a nice little hitting streak. He's kind of found his footing.
Tovar last year, in the high minors, 14 homers, 17 stolen bases over just 71 games. He hit 319. Got himself on base at a 387 clip. He's good.
He's also the kind of player whose glove will keep him in the lineup through any slumps. Just a terrific power speed, middle infield option. He's available right now. And almost 70% of Yahoo leagues. How about another Rockies hitter?
Let's look at Randal Grichuk. Reminder, 13 of the next 16 games for the Rockies in Coors. Grichuk is available in over 90% of leagues right now. That's kind of ridiculous.
We know he has 20 home run power because he's done it 5 times in his career. He's also hit safely in every game since returning from injury, so he's hitting well right now. Just a great play over the next couple of weeks while he's playing at altitude. He's also been hitting second in the lineup in recent days, so that's good to see.
I probably need to give you a pitcher here, because we're trying to help everyone. Hunter Harvey, he got the most recent save for the Washington Nationals, and that is because Kyle Finnegan and various other Nats relievers are just blowing up. Harvey has been really solid this season. Great ratios.
He's got a 1.02 WHIP right now. More strikeouts than innings pitched, that's what we look for. He's got great velocity on the fastball. He's got a wonderful splitter.
That is a closer's arsenal. Pitching really well. He's certainly good enough to hold down that ninth inning gig for a while. Every team, by the way, can produce a 20 save closer.
We know that. Don't even talk to me about wins and the Nats. Hunter Harvey, definitely a name that you're going to want to go out and get if you're chasing saves.
