Fantasy Basketball stock watch - Jrue Holiday steppin' up
Yahoo Fantasy basketball analyst Dan Titus looks at the stock of a few NBA players ahead of the fantasy trade deadline.
DAN TITUS: It's crazy we're in week 19. But for this week's Stock Watch, I'm going to focus on three players. The first player whose stock is definitely up recently, and that is Jrue Holiday of the Milwaukee Bucks. They're in the midst of a 14-game winning streak. And with Giannis Antetokounmpo still dealing with a wrist injury, and knee injury, and let's be honest, he's going to be load managed towards the end of the season here, Jrue Holiday is the person that's going to be stepping up.
In the eight games that Giannis has missed this season, Jrue is averaging 26 points, 10 assists, with 5 rebounds. Just absolutely unconscious. He's been eighth in per game value over the last two weeks. So this is somebody I would definitely be looking to acquire as the trade deadline looms on Thursday.
The second player who I'd also be looking to acquire at the deadline is Cam Johnson of the Brooklyn Nets. He just put together his best campaign for the Nets, 27 points, with 3 triples and 3 stocks. Won't do much for rebounds and assists. But he's efficient. And I think his role is really going to expand on this Brooklyn Nets team that's really searching for any kind of scoring behind Mikal Bridges and the inconsistent Spencer Dinwiddie. So Cam Johnson is definitely a player I would want to get at the trade deadline, with the Brooklyn Nets having a favorable schedule over the next six weeks in fantasy basketball.
And lastly, the faller. Sorry, Paolo, it's been a decent run, but you've really been struggling over the last month. This guy's been 350th in per game value over the last month. And Paolo-- man, this has been rough-- shooting less than 35% from the field over the last month. And he's gone 1 for 30 in February from three. 3%.
So this is a guy that I'd be definitely looking to fade right now, as he's clearly hitting the rookie wall. This is the first month that he hasn't averaged at least 19 points per game. He's down to 15. So definitely struggling right now. It might be a good time to sell if he has a good game over the next couple of days, right before that trade deadline hits.
All right. Check out my article tomorrow, which will feature some teams you'll want to fade heading into the fantasy playoffs.
