How far did Penn State football drop in the AP Top 25 poll after loss to Michigan?

Penn State dropped three spots in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll following its second loss of the season.

The Nittany Lions suffered a 24-15 loss to Michigan on Saturday at Beaver Stadium and dropped to No. 12 in the poll, which was released Sunday afternoon. The still-undefeated Wolverines stayed put at No. 2 in the poll, and the rest of the top five also remains unchanged. Ohio State, which handed Penn State its first loss of the season, is at No. 3.

Last week, Penn State was No. 9 in the AP poll, and this marks the lowest ranking so far in the regular season. Penn State received 857 votes in the poll, 47 more than No. 13 Ole Miss and 60 fewer than No. 11 Missouri.

The Nittany Lions will have their final home game of the season this week when they welcome Rutgers to Beaver Stadium at noon Nov. 18. It will be Penn State’s first game without offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich, who was fired after the Michigan loss, sources with knowledge of the situation told the CDT.

The next College Football Playoff rankings will be released Tuesday. Penn State was ranked No. 10 in those rankings last week.
