Farnham freight train derailment investigated by Transportation Safety Board
The Transportation Safety Board is investigating a derailment in Quebec's Eastern Townships.
A spokesman for the TSB said a freight train carrying 15 empty box cars went off the tracks in Farnham, Que. at about 10:30 p.m. Monday.
"In my understanding there were no injuries, all the cars derailed upright," said TSB spokesman Chris Krepski.
The train was operated by the Central Maine & Quebec Railway.
The Montreal, Maine & Atlantic Railway (MM&A) filed for bankruptcy in 2013 and its assets were sold to an American investment firm, which created what is now called the Central Maine & Quebec Railway.
The train that derailed in Lac-Mégantic, Que. in 2013, killing 47 people, was operated by MM&A.
