Faulty equipment causes unplanned outages in central

Equipment problems were the cause of unplanned power outages for a portion of central Newfoundland on Sunday.

Newfoundland Power began issuing outage advisories around 7 a.m., warning that ongoing power interruptions would affect many areas on its central grid.

Power supply in the areas of Woolfrey's Pond, Comfort Cove, Embree, Indian Arm Pond, Laurenceton, Lewisporte, Little Burnt Bay, Newstead, Notre Dame Junction and Stanhope were impacted.
