A Field Good Time weekend planned for Queens is now grounded

The A Field of Good Time weekend of entertainment planned for August 27 to 30 in North Queens has been grounded.

A portion of the weekend activities at the Gateway Campground located in South Brookfield will go ahead, specifically the Friday night movie put on by the South Shore Drive-In. However, the Saturday concert featuring Autumn Carver, Donna Huber (aka Donna Twin — a Shania Twain tribute singer), and the group,Tide and Timbre, is a no-go.

Jessica Van Dyne and Catherine Croft had been busily preparing for the weekend, but in the end the stars didn’t align for the event to proceed as planned.

“We weren’t able to book the talent until a few weeks ago after been given the okay by our venue’s owner,” explained Van Dyne. “Unfortunately, the cost became too high to get our headliners here, and we didn’t have enough time to book a new one.”

While it couldn’t be pulled off this year, the organizers hope to try again in 2022.

The movie scheduled to take place at the Gateway Campground on August 27 is the comedy City Slickers.

Before the event was cancelled on August 19, Georgie Uhlman, owner of the campground, had commented, “People seem to be excited about it. I know I am … It’s important for Queens County as well.”

Gateway Campground is located on Highway 8 in South Brookfield, three kilometres from Caledonia. It offers year-round camping along the Medway River, however there are no electric or water hook-ups.
