Fiery crash leaves one person dead, metro-east sheriff says

Randolph County authorities are investigating a fiery crash that left one person dead near Red Bud.

The victim’s name has not been released.

A vehicle crashed into a tree late Wednesday off Blackjack Road about one mile south of Keuhner Drive near Red Bud, according to a news release from Randolph County Sheriff Jarrod Peters.

The vehicle “was fully engulfed in flames up against a tree” when a deputy arrived.

Red Bud firefighters put out the fire.

“Once the fire was extinguished, it was discovered that there was one deceased occupant inside the vehicle,” the news release stated.

No other information about the crash was released.
