Fiery crash shuts down I-64 near MidAmerica Airport

A fiery, multi-car crash on Interstate 64 near Mascoutah sent a man to the hospital Tuesday.

Illinois State police said in a press release that troopers responded to a crash at mile post 23, near Illinois 4 and MidAmerica St. Louis Airport. At least one vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.

Two Dodge pickup trucks and a Chevy truck-and-trailer combination were towed from the scene, according to state police.

All westbound traffic lanes and one eastbound lane were closed for hours while the scene was cleared. All lanes have reopened.

One person was taken to an area hospital with unknown injuries. No other information will be released, police said.
