Fifth man charged with murder after Joshua McLean gunned down in Tower Hamlets park

A fifth man has been charged with the murder of Joshua McLean who was fatally shot in an east London park.

Shanoor Ahmed, 38, will appear in custody at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Monday accused of murder.

Ahmed was arrested on Saturday.

Four people have previously appeared in court charged with murdering the 31-year-old.

Nefur Miah, 36, Muhammed Ismail Ali, 37, Simeon Oliver-Stewart, 30, and Muhammad Abbas, 22, will appear at the Old Bailey on 17 December.

A murder hunt was launched by the Met’s Specialist Crime Command after Mr McLean, 31, was fatally shot on 6 August in Weavers Fields, Wilmot Street, Tower Hamlets.

Mr McLean had been found collapsed in Weavers Fields at around 8.25pm.

Weavers Fields is the largest open space in Tower Hamlets, with facilities including an adventure playground, football pitch and outdoor gym.

Paramedics, an air ambulance, and police including firearms units were dispatched to the scene. Despite the efforts of emergency services, Mr McLearn could not be saved.
