FINA votes to restrict transgender athletes in elite women’s events

The governing body for competitive swimming, FINA, has voted to severely restrict transgender participation in elite women's events. Now, only those who fully transitioned before the onset of male puberty — typically starting at age 12 — can participate, something advocates say amounts to a blanket ban.
