Fire ban issued for Leduc County

The County of Leduc issued a fire ban in the region.

The county said the ban was put in place with high winds increasing the risk of wildfires.

On its website, the county said that no outdoor fires are allowed. That includes open burning and fires contained in approved burn barrels, fire pits, or charcoal barbecues.

The county has said that all outdoor fires currently burning must be extinguished immediately.

The discharge of fireworks is not allowed, as per the notice.

All fire permits are suspended, as per the Forest and Prairie Protection Act, and no new fire permits will be issued for the duration of this ban.

Citizens can use cooking and heating appliances, including barbecues, firepits, and patio heaters, that are fueled by liquid fuel such as propane or natural gas.

Fire officials will continue to monitor conditions, and will update the public at Leduc-county.com and albertafirebans.ca when the ban is lifted or downgraded.
