Rocky View County fire crews battled a grass fire in the Conrich area of southern Alberta on Sunday morning as large flames engulfed a home.

Marcus Weckesser, district chief with Rocky View County, said crews received calls about the fire around 10:49 a.m.

Multiple stations from Rocky View County as well as partners from Chestermere responded to the fire. On arrival, they found a home and a garage fully engulfed in flames.

"The fire was spreading to other structures which are on site," Weckesser said. "As well it turned into a bit of a grass fire in addition to that."

In a video shared by Babbu Padda, cars are seen driving slowly down a nearby road while crews work to extinguish the flames.

Weckesser said as of 1:45 p.m. the fire was under control and crews remained on scene putting out hot spots. An investigation will follow.

No occupants were in the building at the time.

The hamlet of Conrich is located east of Calgary.
