Fire destroys a recycling plant in Winkler, Man.

A recycling plant in Winkler has been destroyed by fire.

Fire chief Richard Paetzold said the blaze started in the attic space shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and flames could be seen shooting out of the roof.

He said the building went up within minutes but no one was hurt.

"It moved very quickly. Basically recycling equipment, compactors, and … bales of recycled material ready for shipment," he said.

The cause has been determined to be electrical.

An estimate of damage isn't known at this time.
