School buses may be delayed by 5-alarm Scarborough fire

A major fire early Monday at an industrial building near Lawrence and Warden Avenues may cause delays for school buses that are parked in a nearby yard.

The Toronto Student Transportation Group said in a tweet that the fire at 40 Crockford Blvd. could cause delays for several school bus operators.

Toronto Fire was called to a building that houses a catering business shortly before 2:30 a.m.

As the fire spread, the alarm level was increased. The fire eventually went to 5-alarm, which indicates that up to 25 different emergency vehicles were called to the scene.

Speaking for Toronto Fire, Capt Adrian Ratushniak told CBC Toronto that much of the fire was out by 5:10 a.m.

Ratushniak said it hasn't been determined yet if the Ontario Fire Marshal's office will be called in to investigate the fire.

The Fire Marshal's office is called in when certain conditions are met, including if the fire damages are in excess of $500,000.
