Firefighters suppress 3-alarm blaze at Surrey industrial park
Surrey firefighters have extinguished a 3-alarm fire that broke out at an industrial park early Wednesday morning.
The fire was reported just before 2 a.m. PT.
Flames could be seen shooting out of the roof of the building used to build outdoor furniture.
"Once we had crews knock it down, we did an interior attack," explained battalion chief Richard Ellis.
"We had to spend some time on the roof. The roof was going a bit, so it took a little extra time."
It took almost two hours and 24 firefighters to extinguish the flames.
While it is still unclear what sparked the blaze, Surrey Fire and Rescue have confirmed the fire started inside the woodworking shop.
"The potential was there for a lot larger fire; and that's why we went to third alarm...things worked out well."
RCMP officers remain stationed outside the building this morning.
Investigators will take control of the scene later today to try and identify what caused the fire.
