Firefighters deal with blaze at derelict hospital site

Firefighters remain at the scene of a large fire at a derelict building in south Belfast.

Forster Green Hospital, on the Saintfield Road, closed in 2012 and the site has not been used since.

The fire service was called to the scene early on Wednesday morning but the incident has now been scaled back.

Two fire appliances and an aerial appliance remain at the incident.

A fire truck is parked beside a white derelict building with a high appliance towering above. One firefighter is standing at the back of the truck while two others are at the top of the appliance, looking down on the building.

Members of the public have been told to avoid the area where possible.
