Firefighters tackle blaze at restaurant in Aberdeen

Firefighters have been tackling a blaze at a restaurant in Aberdeen city centre.

Emergency services were called to Vovem steakhouse on Union Street just before noon. One person was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Flames and smoke could be seen coming through the roof at the back of the building.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said six fire engines and other specialist resources were sent to the blaze which was "well alight".

Closures were put in place on Union Street, Summer Street, Union Wynd and Little Chapel Street.

Police Scotland asked the public to avoid the area.
