Firefly wins The Masked Singer season 7 after emotional reveal: 'It feels so good'

Warning: This article contains spoilers about the season 7 finale of The Masked Singer.

And just like that, another season of The Masked Singer has come to a close, and another veiled vocalist has been crowned.

The finale Wednesday night was just an hour long, but it packed in five great performances, two elimination rounds, and three reveals. First up was the Prince, who kicked things off with a lively rendition of "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay, followed by Firefly, with "Bad Girl" by Usher, and Ringmaster closing out the first round with "Gravity" by Sara Bareilles.

The show decided to do things a bit differently in this finale than it has in the past, by bringing in two different rounds and therefore two different eliminations. The first elimination was royally depressing, because it was the Prince who wouldn't be moving on. Before the reveal, Robin Thicke surmised that the amphibious royal must be Ricky Martin, and Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg picked Ben Platt. Ken Jeong got amusingly close with Matt Bomer, but indeed it was another blue-eyed brunette with an enviable jawline — actor and singer (and Bomer's American Horror Story costar) Cheyenne Jackson. Only Nicole Scherzinger got this right in the end as it was revealed to be Jackson, and it's a shame the show didn't do the Golden Ear Trophy for the judges this season, because with her pick here, Scherzinger would have come out on top.

With the Prince out of the competition, Ringmaster and Firefly were left to battle it out. Firefly gave a rendition of a Robin Thicke song, "Lost Without U," of all things — much to his delight. "I'm all flattered and choked up. That song was supposed to feel exactly the way you made it feel," he tells her, as the other panelists agree.

Host Nick Cannon then tells the panelists that the contestant is "quite emotional" up there on stage following the performance. She gives Cannon a squeeze before leaving the stage.

Ending things on a lighter note was Ringmaster, who performed a very upbeat performance of "Waking Up in Vegas" by Katy Perry. When it came time to vote though, it wasn't enough for the power vocalist, as Firefly was ultimately crowned the winner. The luminescent contestant was clearly bowled over by the news, telling Cannon, "It feels so good," as she audibly chokes up.

Before she was revealed once and for all though, the runner-up unmasked, per tradition. This was by far the worst guessing of the night for the panelists, with not a single person getting it right. Thicke picked Maren Morris, Scherzinger went with Lucy Hale, Jeong stuck with his earlier guess of Hailee Steinfeld, and McCarthy-Wahlberg went with the left-field pick of Hayden Panettiere. In the end, the circus kitty was revealed to be The Goldbergs star and singer Hayley Orrantia.

The panelists fared much better with the final reveal of the night. Scherzinger guessed Monica and Jeong went with Alicia Keys, but it was McCarthy-Wahlberg and Thicke who got it right in the end, both going with R&B singer-songwriter, actress, and model Teyana Taylor.

And that concludes another season of this zany celebrity singing show. Fellow armchair sleuths, get your magnifying glasses and search engines ready for this fall, when season 8 of The Masked Singer debuts once again on Fox.
