Fun was had by all at the inaugural Disc Golf Tournament in Shaunavon on June 26.

There were a total of six teams in attendance, with participants coming from Shaunavon, Swift Current, and Gull Lake.

“We were very pleased with how things turned,” explained Shaunavon Director of Wellness and Leisure Dana Dale. "This was the first time we had ever held an event like this so we didn't know what to expect. But I was really happy with the turnout - we had a nice response."

“The weather was great too - although it was pretty warm and a bit breezy - and I think everyone enjoyed themselves," she added. "We had quite a few compliments about our new course."

The tournament served as the grand opening of sorts for the course which was completed earlier this spring.

The winning team was from Swift Current with players Cole Bissonnette, Nathan Braun, Ryan Anderson, and Mitchell Braun.

They scored a 50, which was four under par over two rounds.

The tournament was a Texas Scramble, and the teams played the course twice for 18 holes.

A local team comprised of Morgan Anderson, Nathan Sutter and Jordan Beauchamp finished second with a two-round total of 55.

With such a great turn out this year Dale hopes to make this tournament an annual event for the next few years.
