FREDERICTON — Health officials in New Brunswick reported one new case of COVID-19 Wednesday.

The case involved an individual in their 30s in the Fredericton region who is self-isolating.

Authorities said there were 27 active cases in the province and that two patients were hospitalized with the disease, with one in intensive care.

New Brunswick's first shipment of 2,400 doses of the Moderna vaccine was expected to arrive Wednesday.

Health authorities have said they will use that shipment to vaccinate 1,200 long-term care residents at various nursing homes around the province during the first full week of January.

The remaining 1,200 doses will be reserved as booster shots for those already vaccinated.
