SINGAPORE — Close to 600 women took part in the first-ever Great Eastern Women’s Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT) at the Singapore Sports Hub on Saturday (24 August).

Comprising three components – push-ups, sit-ups and a 2.4km run – the event seeks to help participants assess their fitness levels, set achievable fitness goals and track their future progress in the long run.

Points were awarded at each component, and participants will achieve a “Good” grade for attaining 51 points and above, or a “Great” grade for getting 75 points or more.

Cheering on the participants were three of Singapore’s leading fitness trainers – Natalie Dau, Wany Misban and Roxanne Gan – who have been curating a series of strength and conditioning exercises to help participants train for the IPPT as well as the Great Eastern Women’s Run in November.

Among the participants was Vanessa Tan, second runner-up at the 2015 Miss Singapore beauty pageant. The 24-year-old said, “I used to hate the physical fitness tests in school. They tend to be the beginning of the bullying for those don’t do well, as we get laughed at.

“The GE Women’s IPPT is different as all the ladies were cheering each other on and we were just motivated to do it together.”

Registration for the Great Eastern Women’s Run is still open.
