Fitness trackers have been killing the smart tech game in recent years, with plenty of useful data that can help you optimize your health. That said, they haven't always been the most fashionable accessories around — but that all changes now.

Fitbit Luxe is the latest launch from the iconic fitness wearables brand. This fitness tracker is a compact version that's designed for the fashion-forward individual who prefers a modern, minimal option to match their style.

What is it?

The Fitbit Luxe has all the essential and basic tracker needs: heart rate sensor, oxygen saturation (SpO2) monitoring, sleep tracking, steps tracking, active zone minutes and real-time pace and distance. With an AMOLED display, your stats truly shine while the tracker automatically adjusts its brightness to your environment.

In addition to the basics, it also gives you other health and wellness tracking info, like Sleep score which tells you the quality of your sleep each night; Heart Rate Variability, which shows any potential signs of stress, illness or fatigue; and Breathing Rate. If you love swimming, Luxe is also water resistant up to 50m and automatically tracks how long you've been swimming.

The slim design and polished stainless steel casing is simple, chic and elegant. It's available in three sleek silicone strap colours, and even has the option for a gold bracelet band if you want to amp up your look further.

Initial thoughts

Having tried both the Fitbit Versa 2 and Versa 3, this fitness tracker is a simpler option than the full-fledged smartwatch. It's lightweight and doesn't look too gadget-like on your wrist — which I really love. As someone who prefers watches, I do like the jewelry-like tracker that is true to its word on being minimal and elegant.

It gives the essential details that I need like step tracking and heart rate tracking. The biometric details are pretty impressive and all that I really need.

You can also get all your call and text notifications on your wrist. I always find this helpful when my phone is not around me and I need a quick glance at the notifications. You can turn this feature off at any time as well.

I find that the Sleep Tracker is one of the best features, as it gives you a sleep score every day, telling you how many hours of REM, light and deep sleep you had. It's easy to get competitive about your scores —just ask Gwyneth Paltrow and Kim Kardashian.

Verdict

I do adore this sleek tracker. The main drawback with this is that the screen is quite small and hence, won't give you much data. Also, to use any of the more advanced features, you need to subscribe to Fitbit Premium. Also, the battery is not as long lasting and needs to be charged every four days or so.

For those who prefer an extensive experience, Versa 3 is the way to go. But if you'd like a simple tracker without any advanced info, then Luxe is your go-to. I love that it can match your style by being sleek and chic. Now I can actually wear my Fitbit to fancy events and get my step count.
