Five arrested in raid on downtown London marijuana dispensary

Police shut down a marijuana dispensary in downtown London and arrested several people on a busy stretch of Richmond Row Wednesday morning .

The London Police executed a search warrant, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, at the London Relief Centre, located at 691 Richmond Street, south of Oxford Street.

"As of right now, we have arrested 5 individuals. They've been taken down to cells and charges are currently pending," said Constable Sandasha Bough.

She said the investigation is still underway and nothing has been seized at this point.

It's not the first raid London police have carried out in recent months. In March, five dispensaries were closed and eight people were charged.

Bough said marijuana trafficking is illegal and that "as long as that's the law in Canada, the London Police Service will continue to enforce it.

Police are expected to release more information on the raid later in the day.
