FLATO Developments announces a $1 million gift to improve access to healthcare in Dundalk

DUNDALK, ON, May 25, 2020 /CNW/ - Today, FLATO Developments, an Ontario-based community builder, announced a $1 million gift to South East Grey Community Health Centre (SEGCHC), a non-profit (charity) organization providing inter-disciplinary primary health care services and health promotion programs to the residents of Grey County, Ontario.

FLATO Developments Inc. (CNW Group/Flato Developments Inc.)

FLATO's funding will support the work of the SEGCHC and specifically, the establishment of a new healthcare clinic in Dundalk. The clinic will provide primary care, mental health, social and home care services to residents of Grey and Bruce Counties. The new 14,000-15,000 square foot facility will be located at the north-east corner of Grey and Dundalk streets in Dundalk.

"Together with FLATO and SEGCHC, we share a common objective: to bring better care to our people and communities. With the establishment of the new clinic we're expanding access to healthcare in Dundalk in the longer term, to provide our residents with the care they need, when they need it," said John Woodbury, Mayor of Township of Southgate.

"We're happy to partner with FLATO Developments to build a healthier Grey County," said Allan Madden, Chief Executive Officer, South East Grey Community Health Centre. "The COVID-19 pandemic has brought to light the extraordinary pressures on the healthcare system. With the establishment of the new clinic, we are doing our part towards stronger patient care in our community in the future."

"I am so pleased to help found the new health clinic that will deliver expanded services to the residents of Dundalk and nearby communities," says Shakir Rehmatullah, President and Founder of FLATO Developments. "At FLATO, we believe in giving back to the communities where we operate and build. By collaborating with an extraordinary community partner such as South East Grey Community Health Centre, we are confident that the new clinic will enable better health outcomes for more Ontarians."

This donation follows FLATO's previous charitable initiatives in southern Ontario communities. Most recently, the builder donated more than 50,000 masks and over 5,000 tubes of hand sanitizers to assist frontline healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company has allocated $100,000 to support local food banks in the area. FLATO also supports the Markdale Hospital and has the naming rights of the hospital lobby.
