Flex-N-Gate workers back to work Tuesday

Flex-N-Gate workers have voted 75 per cent in favour of a new contract Sunday.

More than 200 employees at the Lakeshore auto parts manufacturer will be back at work Tuesday morning.

This is after fifty-five per cent of unionized workers at Flex-N-Gate voted no to a tentative agreement on Friday and strike action began immediately. Yesterday, management and the union reached a second tentative agreement.

Gerry Farnham, president of Unifor Local 195 says the employer came back to address some of the issues that were unresolved and the members thought it was fair.

The new contract includes benefit increases across the board as well as increased wages.

"Membership is happy that they are able to get back to work and that they didn't have to shut down Windsor's facilities, it's all good," said Farnham.

Flex-N-Gate produces door tracks for vehicles of Fiat-Chrysler. Windsor Assembly Plant has not been affected by the strike as there is no production at the plant during the Victoria Day long weekend.
