Every month the Taber Food Bank highlights a board member, volunteer or member of staff that plays an important role in the operations of the food bank. This month, the food bank highlights one of its board members Jane Brenner. Brenner has lived in Taber most her life, and worked as the executive director for the Taber and District Community Adult Learning Association for 36 years — having just retired. Brenner joined the food bank the spring of this year, but had volunteered prior to her board position. Brenner stated her biggest accomplishment in life is her family, and she couldn’t imagine life without her husband, children and grandchildren. Brenner added she’d like to live on a lake where it’s warm all year-round with her family — all living on the same block. Additionally, Alyssa Campbell, Josh Gardner and Cadence Crowson all won a laptop, case and accessories for winning the food bank’s logo contest. As for some stats for May 2021, the food bank distributed 210 litres of milk and a combined 9,336 pounds of food to their clients. Along with this, 268.5 volunteer hours were contributed by their 16 volunteers. Some of the most needed items at the Taber Food Bank are dish soap, coffee, snacks for kids and condensed tomato, mushroom or chicken noodle soup.
