Former NHL centerman Mike Ribeiro has reportedly been charged with two counts of sexual assault stemming from a pair of instances in Texas last June.

According to the April 13 indictments in Franklin County, Ribeiro is accused of assaulting two women on June 23, 2021. The 42-year-old was arrested on April 28 and released on a $200,000 bond on the same day, according to The Dallas Morning News.

Ribeiro allegedly assaulted one woman with his finger, and the other using his “sexual organ.” Any attempt for an interview from Ribeiro or his lawyer by local news outlets proved to be unsuccessful.

This is not the first instance of Ribeiro being accused of sexual assault. In 2015, when Ribeiro was playing with the Nashville Predators, he settled a sexual assault civil case amidst accusations from his family’s then-18-year-old nanny that he assaulted her in August of 2012. According to the documents obtained by On The Forecheck, Ribeiro forced himself on the nanny as she was sleeping in the same room as his children.

Ribeiro, according to the complaint, admitted fault in a private conversation with his wife and the nanny after the incident, and he "tried to blame his actions on drinking too much and also admitted that he did not doubt [the nanny's] account of the events."

The lawsuit was settled later that year, with the terms not disclosed.

Ribiero quietly retired from the NHL in 2017, three years after being bought out of a four-year contract by the Arizona Coyotes due to reported behavioral issues. He played over 1,000 games for five different organizations across 17 seasons and was selected in the second round of the 1998 NHL Draft by the Montreal Canadiens.
