Former President Donald Trump and vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance are in Asheboro Wednesday to discuss national security.

The event takes place while Democrats are in Chicago for the Democratic National Convention.

The visit is Trump’s fourth to the state in 2024 and Vance’s first.

In his speech, Trump promised “to restore America to maximum strength and return the world to peace” if he is elected, and claimed that if Vice President Kamala Harris were elected president, “World War III is virtually guaranteed to happen.”
