Bradley Glenn leaves court in April after pleading guilty to having sex with a student while in a position of trust.

A former Edmonton high-school teacher has been sentenced to two years in prison followed by two years probation for having an affair with a former student.

Brad Ashley Glenn, 37, was sentenced Thursday on one charge of sexual touching of a person he was in a postion of trust over.

The judge also ordered Glenn to provide DNA sample and placed him on the sex offender registry for 20 years.

Glenn was an English teacher at W. P. Wagner school in south Edmonton when he developed a relationship with a 15-year-old girl.

Glenn shared emails and Facebook conversations with the student and eventually developed a sexual relationship with her after she turned 17 in December 2009 and was no longer a student of his, court heard.

The Crown had sought a four-year prison term, while his lawyer asked for 12 to 15 months.
