Former Yukon humane society director in court
A former director of Yukon's humane society will have to wait a couple of months to find out if she breached her legal duties.
Shelley Cuthbert is charged with failing to comply with government orders related to running the non-profit society.
She was the only witness Wednesday in her territorial court trial. Cuthbert testified about the infighting in 2012 when she ran the Mae Bachur Animal Shelter.
She admitted she denied memberships to certain applicants and denied people access to the society books but her lawyer argued that Cuthbert was doing what she thought was best for the shelter.
The year-long fight for control of the financially-stricken board ended when Yukon Supreme Court ordered a new election of officers.
Lawyers for both sides are preparing final arguments for territorial court judge Karen Ruddy. She has promised a decision in November.
