'Hold and secure' lifted at four Coquitlam schools

Gang of youth in hoodies allegedly rob and assault man in Behchoko, N.W.T.

Coquitlam RCMP have lifted a "hold and secure" order at four schools in that city that lasted approximately one hour.

Charles Best Secondary, Hillcrest Middle School, Baker Drive Elementary and Children of Integrity Montessori were asked by police to go into hold and secure just after 2 p.m. PT, after a report of a "suspicious person" in the area of Baker Drive Elementary.

At 3:15 p.m. PT Coqutilam RCMP determined there was no threat and the order was lifted, according to a statement from police.

"Hold and secure" is a lower level security measure than a lockdown, according to a spokesperson with the Coquitlam School District.
