Frère Antoine School to be ready for first day of school

Frère Antoine School in Mill Woods will be ready for students on Tuesday, the first day of school, one month after a fire damaged seven portable classrooms beside the main building.

Principal Dean Cockburn said the restoration team has been working hard and the school is now in '"phenomenal shape."

"The school has been completely cleaned, the fire site has been completely removed, the playgrounds have been completely gutted and refinished," he said.

Students are being placed in various wings: one for primary grades, one for grades 3 and 4, another for grade 5 and 6.

Spaces for smaller group work have been created in the computer and music rooms and the gymnasium, Cockburn said.

All seven portables will be rebuilt on the site.
