Fred Ketchen looks back on 57 years on Bay Street
Fred Ketchen, often called the “Dean of Bay Street” will retire next month as director of equity trading for Scotia McLeod after a career in trading that spans 57 years.
He started his career at the age of 22 in 1957, making trades in the open outcry of the Toronto Stock Exchange.
As vice president of McLeod Young Weir, he watched the crash of '87.
Then, as chairman of the TSX in the ‘90s, he witnessed the bubble of dot-com stocks.
After seeing it all, Ketchen, now 77, looks back on his career in this interview with CBC’s The Lang & O’Leary Exchange.
