Fredericton stabbing investigation leads to 3 arrests, in different case

Fredericton police investigate trafficking, arson and break-in in early hours

The investigation into a northside Fredericton stabbing has resulted in three arrests, but for an entirely different crime.

Police responded to a southside residence shortly before 5 a.m Thursday in response to a call that three men entered the residence with a weapon and threatened the people in the residence. Police say the three men fled and no one was injured.

The police then responded to a stabbing on the northside at 6:30 p.m. that resulted in the hospitalization of one man. A man and a woman were taken into custody in relation to that crime. The woman was later released unconditionally.

Through that investigation, three suspects were arrested at 10:30 p.m. in connection with the early morning break and enter. They were also arrested for assault.

The police aren't releasing any further details on what about the stabbing incident led to arrests in the break and enter incident.

"Sometimes investigations are linked without us knowing when we initially respond," said Fredericton Police spokeswoman Alycia Bartlett.

The three men arrested in connection with the break and enter and assault are still in custody and charges are expected.
