Free events around the Quartier des spectacles during Just for Laughs

Momentum for Montreal's world famous Just for Laughs comedy festival has been building all month and this is the last week to get out and see it before it's gone.

But the festival is not only gala and club comedy shows but loads of entertainment freebies as well.

Here is a list of free entertainment festival-goers will find in the streets around the Quartier des spectacles.

Sugar Sammy

Quebec's Sugar Sammy is bringing his bilingual show to Place des Festivals Thursday with You're Gonna rire: Le Grand Événement.

The show has been performed 420 times and this is the last chance to see it. It starts at 9 p.m. but it will be worth getting there early to secure a decent spot.

Bouffons Montréal

Just outside the Just For Laughs grounds at Place des Festivals is a foodie fest and outdoor dining spot complete with entertainment called Bouffons Montréal. It calls itself "the largest open-air gastronomy festival in North America."

The boardwalk environment features a sand beach, picnic area and street entertainers.

It can be found on Ste-Catherine Street West between St-Urbain Street and St-Laurent Boulevard.

Fifi Bric-à- Brac

Until July 29, the performance artist Fifi Bric-à- Brac will dance her way through a colourful show at the festival's family space starting at 1:30 p.m. and at 8 p.m. July 27.

Prima Danse

An afternoon show July 30 will showcase the talents of young dancers who got top marks in the 2016 RepreZent dance competition.

They're on the Scene Loto-Quebec stage at 4 p.m.

Visual arts competition

The arts showcase Concours international d'arts visuels Juste pour rire presents visual arts with a comedy bent in the middle of the Quartier des spectacles.

The exposition features 39 finalists from 14 countries and the theme this year is satire.
