The freezing rain warning is over for the greater Montreal area, the lower Laurentians, the Outaouais, and the Montérégie, Environment Canada says.
The City of Montreal had hundreds of trucks on the roads Friday salting streets and sidewalks.
It is asked citizens to postpone their movements Friday morning if possible.
"It would be a great idea to wait a few more hours," city spokesperson Philippe Sabourin said.
"That will give the city the time to complete the operation."
Sabourin added that the city would prioritize de-icing steep hills, main roads and residential streets in their salting operations.
There were no major accidents reported in Montreal Friday, but Urgences-Santé says it received a higher volume of calls than average.
The agency recommended going to a medical clinic, if possible, instead of calling 911.
Environment Quebec also asked people to take extra care when walking or driving.
