If you're looking for fresh produce, it doesn't get any better than this.
E.F.T. Farms near Cookstown brings farm fresh produce right from the fields to the Alliston Rurban Farmer's Market every Saturday.
Stephanie Lovat and Ally Abela are at the market every week to greet visitors and they bring a big assortment of fruits and vegetables on Saturday morning.
“We have a variety of vegetables,” Stephanie said. “Our big sellers are potatoes and garlic. We've been coming to the market for a long time. I've been coming here for five years myself. The farm is 25 acres, all vegetables and some apple trees. We have pink ladies, ambrosias, and gala apples.”
Ally also comes to the market every week to help out and enjoys meeting the customers who arrive every week.
Their table has potatoes, peppers, leeks, asparagus, onions, beets and more, all grown on the farm and brought fresh to the market.
For items like the fresh leeks, customers like to get them fresh for specialty dishes.
“Potato and leek soup is really popular,” Stephanie said of her customers that like to take them home and make a dish featuring farm fresh vegetables.
The market is open every Saturday and coming soon, when provincial restrictions are lifted, artisans and craft vendors will also be on site.
The market opens at 8:00 a.m. and sells until 2:00 p.m.
