Fresno man convicted of sex crimes, child porn using social media, prosecutors say
A Fresno man was sentenced to 25 years in prison and a lifetime of law enforcement supervision for sexual exploitation of a minor and other crimes, federal prosecutors said on Monday.
Nicolas Adan Guereca, 25, was convicted of sexual exploitation of a minor and receipt of child pornography, and was ordered to register as a sex offender after using social media to take advantage of minors as young as 12, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a news release.
Along with a prison sentence and lifetime restrictions for access to minors, computers and the Internet, Guereca was ordered by U.S. District Judge Jennifer L. Thurston to pay $60,200 in financial assessments.
Guereca used an Instagram account with the username “jayriggs_14” to find and communicate with a minor on June 30, 2019, asking the minor to send him sexually explicit images, prosecutors said.
Investigators said they went on to determine Guereca had also used Yahoo and Snapchat to exploit multiple other minors between June 2019 through July 2020.
Another hearing was set on restitution by Guereca on Sept. 16, prosecutors said.
